I added a few more panels. Made some changes. A couple buttons were wrong. You’ll find TVs and computer screens in some panels now, and those are interactive. I’ve been thinking about other interactive elements that could be used to present info. Like, there’s a computer screen that shows a breakdown of the gain, the criminal ratings in San Andreas, which I didn’t even know existed before starting this. Kind of cool. That kind of info feels like something you'd want in a side-thing like this.
Not all info makes sense to include—either it's fluff or it's easier to just Google. But I do want to include more. I think San Andreas is a strong base for this concept. Other games could work too, depending on what they are. It’s the kind of thing that could work across different types of games, especially now that people emulate and play retro stuff all the time.
There’s also a page that’s just a plain list of cheats, for easy reference. Because the idea is: Decker should be your cheat deck, your companion. Maps, codes, but also something that adds immersion. Older games benefit more from that, I think. If you’re playing an old game on PC with this open beside it, it adds something.
Could this be a better way to present info than a traditional FAQ? Maybe. YouTube walkthroughs exist, but they’re annoying—you gotta scrub through Let’s Plays, find the right part, skip around. And watching someone else play and just copying what they do, no filter—that’s always the last resort. If you really can’t figure something out, sure. But something like a quest hint or breakdown, that’s more interesting when it's built into a companion format. Like a tabletop add-on.
That’s more engaging than watching someone else solve it for you. Especially for retro games. YouTube wasn’t around in the '90s. Back then, you had to share info, pass rumors, trade tips. There’s immersion in that. Maybe this is a bit of a tangent, maybe a bit of a rant, but Decker’s got potential to grow way beyond gaming. Still, it’s a good place to start.
