A couple of years ago. It’s 2023. I just found out about Decker. It’s this program for making little magazines, e-zines, interactive edutainment, whatever the fuck. You know what it is. You’re looking at one. Problem was, I didn’t know how to use it. Needed a small project, something simple, just to mess around, learn how it works. Wanted something I could read on break too, something with that pulpy feel.

Enter Grime n Ghouls. Ran for five issues. Each one was only, like, 12 to 18 pages. And in Decker, a "page" is basically an index card—so small. Just a scrappy little zine series. I ended up taking them all down. Didn’t meet my standards. They were rough, temporary, more of a learning experience than anything else.

But I went back to them. Dug through the art, the stories. Didn’t keep everything—some of it didn’t fit. Took the best pieces from those five zines and reworked them into something new. Learned I could change Decker’s resolution—600 by 776 gives it this really clean magazine vibe. So I rebuilt it all into one 48-page zine. New resolution, new color palette. Paperback background, easy on the eyes.

If you’ve been following me, a lot of this will look familiar. It’s got pieces of where I was at back then. Some of it I hadn’t seen in forever. Forgot I even worked with certain people. 2023. Two years ago now.
